‘A high velocity interplay of meanings is acutely felt in ‘THE CORPSING PICTURES’, beginning with the arresting or even shocking title of the group, that could refer, dizzyingly, to both death and dead bodies, and the theatrical slang for an actor who suddenly steps out of character during a performance, by either forgetting their lines, or laughing, or causing another actor in the scene to lose their composure.’
– Michael Bracewell
Designed by the artists themselves, this book was published to coincide with the exhibitions of the same name at White Cube Mason’s Yard, London, and White Cube West Palm Beach, Florida, in the spring of 2023. Richly illustrated and accompanied by an essay from novelist Michael Bracewell, the format of the book provides a view into the world of Gilbert & George as well as this particular series of pictures.
For every exhibition that Gilbert & George stage, they publish a catalogue in keeping with their deeply held belief of ‘Art for all’. On this special occasion, they have additionally produced a set of three posters and a tote bag, click here to find out more.
